Matthew T. Paul is vice president for plant operations, fossil generation for DTE Energy (NYSE: DTE), a Detroit-based diversified energy company involved in the development and management of energy-related businesses and services nationwide. Its operating units include an electric utility serving 2.1 million customers in Southeastern Michigan and a natural gas utility serving 1.3 million customers in Michigan. The DTE Energy portfolio includes non-utility energy businesses focused on power and industrial projects, natural gas pipelines, gathering and storage, and energy marketing and trading. As one of Michigan's leading corporate citizens, DTE Energy is a force for growth and prosperity in the 450 Michigan communities it serves in a variety of ways, including philanthropy, volunteerism and economic progress.


Paul is responsible for fossil generation plant operations and also continues to act as DTE Electric’s NERC CIP Senior Manager.


Paul is the former president of DTE Coal Services, a subsidiary of DTE Energy, and most recently served as executive director responsible for generation optimization, corporate fuel supply, DTE Electric’s Midwest Energy Resources Company terminal business and the NERC compliance organization. Prior to joining DTE, Paul served in various roles for Koch Industries. Paul holds a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Michigan State University and an MBA in finance and accounting from the University of Chicago.
