Kenneth M. Capps is the Senior Vice President, and Chief Operating Officer for Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SMECO), a non-profit electric distribution cooperative serving nearly 150,000 members in the Charles, St. Mary’s, Calvert and Prince George’s counties of Maryland.

Mr. Capps manages the engineering, operations, construction, and maintenance of the transmission and distribution plant within the 1,150 square mile service territory of the Cooperative. He is also a key member of the team dedicated to managing the wholesale power portfolio affiliated with the delivery of the Standard Offer Service to SMECO customers.

He is a graduate of the Florida Institute of Technology, with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering. He began his career with the Cooperative in 1981 as an associate engineer.

Within the southern Maryland community, Mr. Capps was recently appointed to the executive committee of the St. Mary’s Nursing Center’s Board of Trustees, located in Leonardtown, Maryland.
